How do you get the kerosene smell out of a truck carpet? I've tried Febreeze & shampoo, but smell returns.

The only way I've seen that works other than just time , is to use brakleen and a vacuum cleaner at the same time so you don't soak the spot so badly that it spreads , but is picked up as it dissolves . You could also spend the money and have it professionally done .How do you get the kerosene smell out of a truck carpet? I've tried Febreeze %26amp; shampoo, but smell returns.
I would try bi-carbonate of soda. Just sprinkle it over the affected area, leave for half hour or more, then vacuum it out. It works for cat pee so it may work for kero also. How do you get the kerosene smell out of a truck carpet? I've tried Febreeze %26amp; shampoo, but smell returns.
You can take it out and use a brush and dawn dish detergent.Set it out in the sun to dry most of the day.
toss it ...go to recycle yard they are cheep...
Try cleaning with odo-ban, Then for keeping odors gone, here's an inexpensive and fragrance free solution that is perfect for your problem. - I know many other people that use it. It is a natural fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays, and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets, etc. and just don't eliminate odors. Just put one or two in your car and trunk.. No spills or chemicals or powder to worry about. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and Internet at customerservice@innofresh.com.

Definitely worth trying
you can clean the carpet all you want to but will have little sucess as the padding under the carpet is also soaked and holding the smell. given time... a few weeks, and plenty of sunshine, the odor will eventually go away on its own. leave the windows down and park the vehicle so the sunshine will hit the soaked spot, causing it to eventually evaporate. only other solution is to replace the padding and clean the carpet at the same time. good luck.
