How long can i wait to WET my hair after getting highlights, i dont want to use shampoo, just wet it again?

I am getting my hair highlighted in a couple of weeks, i have never had this done before so am new to it, i have naturally curly hair and while i kinda like the way my hairdresser drys it i like the way i do it better. I have a night out the same night and usually go back home and wet and restyle myself - i just use mousse and hairspray - do you think this would damage it?

You can wet your hair after you get the highlights just don't wash your hair b/c it strips all the oil out of your hair. How long can i wait to WET my hair after getting highlights, i dont want to use shampoo, just wet it again?
No, that won't damage it. If you're getting it highlighted it won't wash out when you wash it either. Highlights don't fade. Lowlights, on the other hand, do fade. You could ask your hairstylist if you have any questions also. But don't worry, wetting your hair after you have it highlighted won't do anything. :)
I have highlights and the 1st time i had them i went straight home and washed my hair because i didnt like the cut and style. It never made any difference to my hair colour x
Yes it would

a long time
you can def. wet it...but yeah no shampoo for 24 hours and you need to use a shampoo for color treated hair and that is not harsh or the highlights will fade.
Are you just getting highlights? Or are you also getting a color put on? Highlights take color off your hair- so wetting it wont ruin them. However, if you are having a color put on, then you do risk fading.
It is a good rule of thumb to wait 24 hours to wash your hair after any color treatments. I would even advise against getting it wet because you are not giving the color a chance to chemically bond with your hair. This is especially true if you are getting any sort of red-ish or copper highlights.

By the way... Now that you have brand new highlights, you need brand new shampoo and conditioner too. You should use color-safe shampoo and conditioner. There are a lot of shampoos and conditioners out there designed for protecting hair color (Garnier Fructis, Herbal Essence, Biolage, Nexxus, etc.) that you can pick up at Walgreens or a beauty supply store. It's important not to skip on using the color-safe shampoo and conditioner because your highlights will fade out and you paid good money for them!

Hope this helps!
